Mara has been a marketing communications executive for many years, working with a range of companies from start-ups to Fortune 50. She has also founded two non-profit organizations, in economic development and the performing arts. Mara studied cultural anthropology at the University of Michigan, lived in Brazil and Italy, and speaks Portuguese, Italian and bits of French and Spanish. Home base is Mill Valley, CA, where she raised her twin daughters, Eva and Marina.
