The Preserve
Located only 25 miles from Panama City, this rainforest preserve is a critical migration corridor for millions of animals and many endangered species, making it one of the world’s top 25 Biodiversity Hotspots.
Mamoní Valley Preserve (MVP), is a non-profit organization located in Panama. Supported by its U.S. 501(c)(3) corporation, MVP’s sole focus is to preserve and enhance a 29,000-acre watershed that is key to saving the larger forest corridor, mitigating climate change, and protecting abundant endemic biodiversity.
Our innovative conservancy model is neither a national protected area, or a private reserve. But by collaborating with conservation minded organizations, businesses, creative individuals, local communities and the state, we can restore a highly degraded but globally critical ecosystem as a conservation community.

Located within the largest remaining stretch of contiguous rainforest of the Tumbes-Choco-Magdalena ecoregion, one of the top 25 Biodiversity Hotspots in the world, this critically endangered biosphere is especially threatened due to its closeness to Panama City.
MVP’s large network of partners monitor, research and maintain MVP’s extensive land holdings and promote a culture of conservation throughout the Mamoní Valley and beyond.
To pursue MVP’s vision for the Valley, alternative socio-economic activities are being explored and, when appropriate, have been implemented. These include job opportunities, land security, organizational development, capacity building, education, health and safety.
