Mamoní Valley Preserve, established in 2006—is a US 501 (c) (3) nonprofit public charity with
EIN: 27-0514499 dedicated to promoting a community of like-minded people, supporting a social ecology of conservation and sustainable development throughout Panama’s Mamoní Valley watershed.
Our mission is to protect, preserve, and nurture the primary and secondary rainforest in the Mamoní Valley and become a global model where community, business, arts, and science collaborate in harmony with nature.
The Mamoní Valley is home to a remarkable array of wildlife, including 9 species listed as Near Threatened, 8 as Vulnerable, 6 as Endangered, and 2 as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
Among these is the elusive Great Curassow (Crax rubra), a striking bird known for its curled crest and vibrant appearance. Classified as “Vulnerable” by the IUCN, it faces significant threats from hunting and habitat loss.
Your donation directly supports the protection of this incredible biodiversity, safeguarding habitats vital for species like the curassow to thrive.
